What’s included… What’s not included?
All tours, unless stated otherwise, include double occupancy lodging, all breakfasts, some on-the-road ride snacks, and most (~80%) dinners. Tours do not include alcohol (but sometimes we’ll hook you up!), airport transfer (unless stated), gratuities for guides, airfare, and travel insurance (required).
Is there a support vehicle?
On days when riders transfer from one town to another, there is a support vehicle on the designated route. With approximately 15 miles left on the route, the support vehicle will drive ahead to the hotel to make sure check-in is seamless for the guests. Afterward, if needed, the van can double back. On non-transfer days the rides are optional and there will be no support vehicle.
Will I be riding with a guide? What happens if I have a mechanical?
We do not provide on-bike guides, however, the support van is nearby if you have a major mechanical. That said, riders should be able to perform minor repairs, such as repairing a puncture, on their own.
If there’s no guide, how do I navigate? Can I create my own route?
Each night your driver will outline the next day’s ride as well as provide a digital file for the route. This file is loaded onto your cycling computer and provides turn-by-turn instructions for the route. We will additionally provide a detailed paper map if desired. Usually, the routes are straight-forward and simple to follow. Guests who want to use their own route (for instance, ride a specific climb or gravel road) can usually do so- as long as the driver is aware of your plans.
How fit do l need to be? What type of cyclist should I be?
Riders should be able to ride 40-70 miles on hilly terrain. Some riders are fast, some riders are steady, but we all have fun.
What type of hotels do we stay in? Can I have my own room?
Whenever possible we stay in smaller locally owned 3 and 4-star hotels that have clean rooms and excellent customer service. We feel that these smaller hotels provide a more intimate and local experience, however, because they have fewer rooms single occupancy is sometimes not available.
